Dye-sensitized solar cells have been under development for the last three decades but are yet to see market. This has attributed stability issues of electrolyte in cell. Electrolytes can be liquid, quasi-solid, or solid. Liquid electrolytes were first developed and, therefore, subject radical revisions both composition and applicability. They shown best power conversion efficiencies poor thermal stability. Although quasi-solid solid-state overcome these issues, they too their limits.
